Weekly News Post

 1.     Meta AI

One of the most interesting things I came across this week was an article about Meta AI's Segment Anything technology. I read the article on my mobile phone and couldn't find it later when I got home, but I was impressed by the concept.

Basically, Segment Anything allows users to instantly layer an unseen image as if using Photoshop to cut out a part of the picture. Users can upload photos in real-time and immediately view various layers of the image, and can select specific parts by clicking or using text search. The technology can even be used in augmented reality to layer objects in the real world.

2.     AI Desperately Needs Global Oversight

This article discusses the potential harm of artificial intelligence to us, such as ChatGPT. The author discussed in the article that developers are using some information on social media and websites to train artificial intelligence models, which may lead to dangerous elements in the absorbed information. And the author said that the control of artificial intelligence should not fall to a certain company, but needs to be controlled by a government agency dedicated to artificial intelligence. Finally, the potential harm of artificial intelligence to us is mentioned, including unemployment or misinformation.

3.     Apple VR Headset

This report talks about the AR Headset that Apple may mention or release at this year's conference. I think it could be really cool if wearing the Headset on the head and then slide out some interfaces with your fingers like in the game. But this report is still predicting, and we will have to wait until Apple's conference this year to see the results.
